Supporting Our Local Communities during the Holiday Season

At Discovery, we take pride in supporting our local communities during the holiday season. Through donations to various charities, we’ve helped bring holiday cheer to seniors, families, children, and those in need across Timmins, Chapleau, and beyond.
- 1. Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine – Adopt-A-Senior (Spruce Hill Lodge)
We contributed to the Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine’s Adopt-A-Senior campaign, specifically helping Spruce Hill Lodge provide new bedding, pillows, towels, and other comfort items to enhance seniors' holiday experience.
- 2. Lords Kitchen
We supported the Lords Kitchen in their mission to provide nutritious community meals for those in need, helping ensure that no one goes hungry this holiday season.
- 3. Timmins Victim Services - Toy Drive
We are proud to have donated to the Timmins Victim Services Toy Drive, helping provide toys that bring joy and warmth to children in need, brightening their holiday season.
- 4. NEOFACS Community Angel Campaign
Through our contribution to the Community Angel Campaign, we assisted families in need across our region, making sure more families could experience the joy of the season.
- 5. Club Richelieu Tree Sale Fundraiser
We supported the Club Richelieu tree sale fundraiser, which helps raise funds for local initiatives and programs that benefit the community.
- 6. Stan Fowler Santa Claus Fund
We donated to the Stan Fowler Santa Claus Fund to provide food baskets and gifts to children and families in our community, ensuring a brighter Christmas for those in need.
- 7. Cochrane District Social Planning Council & Anti-Hunger Coalition – Christmas Food Boxes
Our support helped the Christmas Food Box Program, in partnership with the Anti-Hunger Coalition, deliver essential food supplies to families across the district. - 8. Skate with Santa – Chapleau
We contributed 100 branded teddy bears for the Skate with Santa event in Chapleau, helping make the celebration special for local children. - 9. Métis Nation of Ontario (Timmins & Chapleau)
We supported the holiday gatherings of the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Timmins and Chapleau branches with donations to help bring the community together during the festive season. - 10. Taykwa Tagamou Nation – Children’s New Year’s Eve Pow Wow (Cochrane)
We helped sponsor the Children’s New Year’s Eve Pow Wow in Cochrane, supporting a cultural celebration that brings families together during the holiday season.
Holiday in the Community
This year, Discovery launched the Holiday in the Community program, allowing employees to select one nonprofit in Timmins and one in Chapleau to each receive a donation. Thanks to employee votes, this year’s recipients are:
- Timmins: Timmins Humane Society – Supporting their efforts to care for, protect, and rehome animals in need.
- Chapleau: Chapleau Food Bank – Ensuring local families have access to essential food during the holiday season.
